ART EXHIBITION MAY MIEN – ARTIST TRAN NHAT THANG

Ana Mandara Villas Dalat Resort & Spa (Ana Mandara Dalat) proudly presents the exhibition titled “May Mien” by Tran Nhat Thang. This is the 16th solo exhibition by artist Tran Nhat Thang, but it is the first time he brings his artworks to Dalat, a city known for its mountains, hills, vibrancy, and serenity amidst lush greenery. “May Mien” by Tran Nhat Thang will showcase 27 abstract paintings created by the artist during his time living in Van Ho (Moc Chau, Son La). The acrylic artworks, named from “May Mien 1” to “May Mien 27,” will be displayed for the first time in Dalat.

This “May Mien” exhibition also marks the milestone of 10,000 visitors participating in art activities at Ana Mandara Dalat. After 10 previous events, Ana Mandara Dalat has begun to make its mark with art enthusiasts as a dreamy destination, where art is “touched” by the audience in a multidimensional space, through various forms of art, not limited to a fixed art form. In this exhibition, besides the Le Lycée Artspace, Ana Mandara Dalat, along with the organizing unit, will expand the art space at the resort with a music performance by artists Pho An My and Quyen Thien Dac, featuring music inspired by the locations of the artworks in the “May Mien” exhibition. The multidimensional combination of music and painting continues to be a highlight, allowing art lovers visiting Ana Mandara Dalat to experience creative and emotional appreciation.

Curator Phan Cam Thuong commented on Tran Nhat Thang’s abstract paintings: “The distance between what abstract painters paint and their lives is quite far, so unlike figurative painting, we don’t immediately see the connections between life and art. Abstract painting is perhaps a vision, a vague dream, stemming from direct, raw emotions. Thang seems to be purifying his inner self, peeling off layers to delve into the core. The overall painting has a clear plan, and a structured nature, though simple, sometimes the surface feels as if nothing is painted, or very little. The artist intervenes very little in his creative process, he doesn’t focus on expressing surface mud like many other abstract painters, then returning to pure black and white or pointillism. In recent years, influenced by Buddhism in the sense of meditation, he paints many voids, flat areas, and his Zen painting style evokes sentiment. But this person is not simple, he is also struggling with worldly affairs and his family’s difficulties, even though he is floating on mountain peaks.”

The exhibition promises to be a meeting between art enthusiasts who always aspire to honor and preserve beauty amidst time changes.
