“Nhìn Lại” Exhibition – Stories and Art Value
Ana Mandara Villas Dalat Resort & Spa is pleased to present the solo exhibition “Nhin Lai” by artist Bui Van Tuat, who has distinguished himself in the Vietnamese modern art scene through his works on the theme of the Northern mountains. .
Portraits in Tuat’s paintings are very diverse. All ages, all genders, all professions, but the most special impression – what makes his name is the portrait of children. Many artists have drawn children, but it is rare to be able to draw the true nature of children. Bui Van Tuat is one of the few people like that. To do that, it is not enough to just love them, but also to understand them. Because only understanding can grasp their rich expressions. The Dog loves children in their own way, that is, the Dog shrinks himself to their size to play, to blend into their souls. That unity is transmitted to the tip of the pen, along each streak of color, into the charisma of each child. Looking at the series of portraits of children in the Northwest highlands, one will see that each figure and each face exudes a characteristic wildness and bewilderment, while also seeing a glimpse of mischief and stubbornness in them. , the pure innocence of childhood.
Another topic in Bui Van Tuat’s work that also makes the public love is a series of landscape paintings. It’s called a landscape, but it’s actually slices and excerpts of living space: a corner of the kitchen with pots and pans hanging on a smoky wall, a kettle of water boiling on a firewood stove, a small dog sleeping. passionately on the clay terrace… Tuat’s ingenuity and sophistication is that he makes viewers feel that they are not looking at paintings, but are contemplating life, being in a life, Because from those simple objects, people find out the story of their family, their village, of a beloved place they have not returned to for a long time.
